The recipient of the 2009 Clifford A. Chier Memorial Scholarship was Justin Morgan of Pittsburg State. The FEF was established in 1947 to assure a continuing supply of technical support and employees for the metal casting (foundry) industry. It includes four-year technology schools as well as traditional engineering colleges and graduate schools. It spans the broad range of higher education from production supervision to specialized research. FEF scholarships are offered currently at 25 colleges and universities in North America. During the FEF Conference a total of $35,000 in scholarships was awarded. Conference attendance included 225 industry executives, student delegates, key professors and university administrators. Badger Mining Corporation (BMC) recently presented the Clifford A. Chier Memorial Scholarship at the annual meeting of the Foundry Education Foundation (FEF) College Industry Conference held November 19-20, 2009 at the Drake Hotel, Chicago, IL. This scholarship was established by BMC in memory of Clifford A. Chier, founder of C.A. Chier Sand Company, today known as Badger Mining Corporation. BMC is a privately held, family-owned international corporation that manufactures industrial silica sand, limestone and other aggregates. Industrial markets include hydraulic fracturing, gravel packing, foundry core and molding applications, industrial and construction fillers, boiler sand, wet grinding media, and fluxing agents.
