Forestry Management

Good Forestry Management is Good Wildlife Management.

Because it is necessary to remove vegetation during the mining process, BMC feels it necessary to replenish the resource. So as a result, we go beyond the basic regulatory requirement and plants thousands of trees every year on reclaimed mine land with that designated post-mining land form.  In addition, to re-forestation of mined lands, we also maintain the non-mining portions of our land holdings.  Maintenance cuttings for timber stand improvements are a common practice which results in improved wildlife habitat.  The resulting landform is a mosaic of diverse age classes and habitat types.

Tree planting efforts are carried out each spring.
