In the early 1990’s BMC incorporated a deer management program on their properties, in order to raise the quality of the local deer herd to a healthier existence. For nearly two decade we have evolved from simple harvest management to the more advanced management of today.
The overall goal is to establish local deer herd having a population with a wide age structure, an even buck to doe ratio and total deer numbers within its carrying capacity. By improving buck to doe ratios, addressing nutritional needs during stress periods and monitoring age & growth, we have managed to create a healthy, more natural herd structure. The result is better habitat for not only deer, but all animals using the property.
