Village of Taylor Walking Trail Project Residents of Taylor have a safer walking trail thanks to the efforts of Badger Mining and the Taylor Village Board. A ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating the new trail was held on August 24, 2006 at the trail’s newly constructed bridge. The walking trail was constructed in 1998 joining the newly constructed Riverside Park and the Village Park. Originally, the trail crossed the Wisconsin Central Railroad (now owned by the Canadian National Railroad) and a single Badger Mining spur. As Taylor operations expanded, so have the railroad tracks serving the plant. As a result BMC took the proactive stance of working towards a goal of rerouting the walking trail to improve public safety and provide a trail the entire community could enjoy. Discussions to reroute the walking trail were initiated by Badger Mining. The project started with environmental permitting in April and was completed the second week of August. Badger Mining took the lead on the overall management, environmental permits, and financial support for the project. However, it took the combined work of numerous other businesses to make this a reality. The completion of the project was made possible through the support of the Canadian National Railroad, CR Meyer Engineering and Contractors of Oshkosh, Greenleaf Trucking, and Atlas Resin Proppants. The new trail is handicap accessible consisting of 750 feet of sidewalk curb & gutter, 1500 feet of paved walkway and a 120 foot pedestrian bridge crossing a wetland.
